The Raine & Horne Story

The remarkable story of Raine & Horne dates back to 1883, when property pioneers Tom Raine and Joseph Horne opened for business in Wentworth Court, Sydney.

Tom and Joseph put in place a set of business practices that have been maintained by Raine & Horne to the present day, with a commitment to personalised service and meeting a client’s needs across sales, leasing, management and consulting services for all categories of real estate.

Since those early days, four generations of the Raine family have helped Raine & Horne rise to the top of a competitive real estate market. By the 1970s, the Raine & Horne network stretched across Sydney, yet the group’s Board wasn’t satisfied, deciding to pursue an expansionary franchising business model.

This proved a major watershed for Raine & Horne, which opened its first franchised office, Raine & Horne Liverpool NSW, in 1976. Since this time, Raine & Horne has grown significantly, to the point where it now has offices across all states and territories in Australia, as well as globally.

Led by Executive Chairman and CEO Angus Raine, the Group celebrates 135 years strong in 2018, making it one of the oldest privately-owned firms in the southern hemisphere and Australia’s oldest family-owned real estate firm.
