Change property 'turn offs' into 'turn ons'

Property buyers can often be put off a purchase when vendors haven’t noticed that their property or its surrounds need radical or even just cosmetic improvement.

Drab, outdated kitchens can ruin a potential sale as can older style bathrooms and utility rooms. If a home has been in the one family for decades these areas often are in need of a complete make-over and there are many firms that specifically offer kitchen and bathroom renovations in a wide range of styles and prices. Renovations are also a competitive market.

Kitchen appliances can win over a buyer. The cost of a new European-style oven and cooktop, a bright stainless steel sink, neat bench-tops and new cupboard handles can be a profitable investment for the vendor.

Wall-to-wall carpets that have become tired and stained are a major put-off as are scuffed and marked polished floors. If the wooden floor (including that under the carpet) it is in good condition consider getting professional floor sanders to quote on resurfacing and coating them.

Roofs, especially those on older premises, can detract from a property’s overall appearance. Tiles can be stained from the weather or coated in lichen and old metal roofs can be starting to show rust or dullness. Fortunately there are now firms that clean, repair and recoat roofs and leave them looking brand new quickly and inexpensively.
