AWESOME CONFERENCE 2022 & DOLLY'S DREAM UPDATE

For this year's AWESOME Conference, the team made the trek out to good ol' Katherine.

Running from Friday the 16th to Sunday the 18th of August and filled to the brim with exciting, insightful, and team-building activities, this annual conference was one for the books!

Friday kicked off with lunch at Low Level Crossing before heading to the Katherine Outback Experience, where the team learnt about the Territory's unique pastoral & mustering history. A few of our crew even got hands on with the horses, buffalo, and working dogs at the farm. The team enjoyed dinner under the stars while discussing Dolly's Dream with Dolly's parents themselves. It was a humbling experience to hand over the incredible amount of funds we raised for their foundation (totalling $3,000 by the time we got there - with all thanks to our wonderful community for their donations).

On Saturday we immersed ourselves in the culture of our First Nations people at Top Didj, taking in the beauty of indigenous artwork & music and learning from Top End Aboriginal artist Manuel Pamkal. The team had the opportunity to create some gorgeous artworks of their own, and our ladies in sales showed us how it was done by starting a fire the traditional way (under Manuel's keen supervision & guidance, of course!). After a quick dip in the stunning natural hot springs, it was time for an unforgettable sunset dinner cruise along the picturesque Katherine Gorge in Nitmiluk National Park.

Before heading home on Sunday, The Pickled Heifer hosted us for breakfast and clay pigeon shooting. There's a few good shots amongst the team here at Raine & Horne Darwin! Accounts Administrator, Mel, and Property Manager, Tamika, took out the top two spots in the shooting competition - keep an eye out for them at the Olympics in a couple of years!

If you've been thinking about an NT adventure that ticks all the boxes, you can experience all this and more just a few hours south of Darwin. To learn more about the awesome things we got up to and set up your very own 2022 Awesome Conference, follow the links below:

Dolly's Dream

As mentioned above, we managed to raise an outstanding $3,000 for Dolly's Dream in the lead up to our conference.

In 2018, people around the country were rocked by the death of 14 year old Dolly Everett, a vibrant young Territorian who lost her battle with mental health due to bullying. In the years since, her family started Dolly's Dream and have subsequently partnered with the Allanah & Madeline Foundation.

Their aim is to advocate for those who can not advocate for themselves and create change by educating the community about the catastrophic consequences of bullying and cyber-bullying, advocating for bullying laws and regulations, and providing assistance and support to those experiencing bullying.

Although our fundraising initiative has now come to an end, you can still be a part of their cause by visiting https://dollysdream.org.au/
