Cessnock, NSW, (12 December 2017) Superbrand Raine & Horne has joined forces with local realtor Mallik Real Estate to re-establish a real estate office in Cessnock, the gateway to the Hunter Valley wine region.

Therese Mallik and her son Chris will lead Raine & Horne Cessnock. The Mallik family has lived and worked in Cessnock for many decades. Therese Mallik launched Mallik Real Estate in 2012 after previously working as a lawyer specialising in real property, conveyancing, probate and  commercial law with Mallik Rees Lawyers, the Cessnock law firm now operating as Coutts Mallik Rees.

“I moved to real estate because I had an interest in the sector and opening a real estate business seemed like a natural extension of my interest in real estate and my conveyancing experience,” said Ms Mallik.

“My husband Rob Mallik is still practicing as a planning and environmental counsel at Coutts Mallik Rees and he is also a business development member of my real estate team.”

Longevity and family values

Before switching to the famous gold and charcoal of Raine & Horne, Therese Mallik was approached by other franchise groups.

“I'm always open-minded. If any business gives me information about what they can do for me, or how we could benefit one another, I’ll always listen,” noted Ms Mallik.

“However, I never found a franchise group that offered what we were looking for. When Raine & Horne Business Support & Development Manager (BSDM) Tina Ashton called me, and asked if I was interested in joining the Raine & Horne group, I took the same approach and said, ‘Well, tell me about it’.

“After listening to Tina, I found the culture at Raine & Horne matched what Chris and I were building at Mallik Real Estate, and we liked the fact that Raine & Horne had a continuation of the Raine family ownership.”

Executive Chairman Angus Raine is the fourth generation of his family to lead Raine & Horne, which will celebrate 135 years of global operation in 2018.

“The family ownership of Raine & Horne is appealing to us, as we own and operate a family business. Our plans are to grow the business next year as we expand with the help of Raine & Horne,” said Ms Mallik.

Raine & Horne’s heritage of success and the support received from the firm’s Corporate office has impressed Ms Mallik.

“BSDMs Katrina Tarrant and Tina Ashton have gone out of their way to be of assistance to us and they’re both such pleasant and helpful people,” said Ms Mallik.

“Angus Raine is also approachable, and while I had the opportunity to meet him before joining the group, Chris hadn't had that opportunity but was impressed when at their first meeting, Angus encouraged him to call him anytime.”

The Raine & Horne welcome has been extended to the entire Mallik family.

“My daughter Katherine is selling her home in Sydney and chose Michael Montano from Raine & Horne Annandale/Drummoyne/Leichhardt as her sales agent. Michael and his colleague Rebecca Gore have really looked after my daughter.” said Ms Mallik.
