Housing shortage to create dramatic price growth for Northern Beaches real estate

A chronic shortage of accommodation on Sydney’s Northern Beaches is set to result in significant rises in house and apartment prices in 2011, according to David Gilmour, Principal of Raine & Horne Dee Why and Raine & Horne Collaroy.

Now in his 40th year in real estate on the Northern Beaches, Mr Gilmour said the region had enjoyed annual average price growth in excess of 10% to 12% for houses and 8% for home units.

“You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know that we have a vast shortage of housing in this area, and this has increasingly been the case since 1987/88,” Mr Gilmour said.

“This has contributed to prices being pushed hard over this period, and we could yet see some dramatic price rises for both apartments and houses in 2011,” he said.

Indeed, hot competition for a Northern Beaches home is a contributing factor to the twin successes of Raine & Horne Dee Why and Raine & Horne Collaroy at the latest Raine & Horne NSW/ACT Chairman’s Awards.

The dynamic Northern Beaches real estate firms grabbed a massive 18 awards at the prestigious event, held at the Westin Hotel, Sydney on Saturday 19 February 2011.

“Servicing, education and hard work are the key to the sales teams from Raine & Horne Dee Why and Raine & Horne Collaroy winning so many awards,” Mr Gilmour said.

Raine & Horne Collaroy grabbed 10 awards, with co-principal Lachlan Yeates named best salesperson for number of sales – an excellent result given Raine & Horne has literally thousands of agents in its NSW/ACT network. The sales whiz was also fourth in the Top Salesperson (Proprietor) category.

In addition, Raine & Horne Collaroy was the Top Referring Office (Dollar Value), came a close second in the Top Office (Number of Sales) category, and placed third in the Top Office (Dollar Value) category. In conjunction with Raine & Horne Dee Why, Raine & Horne Collaroy also won the Multiple Offices Award.

To round off a huge team effort, Mr Yeates and sales agents Kim Adams and Martin Orth were recognised with memberships of the Raine & Horne Chairman’s Club, which is reserved for Raine & Horne’s very best performers.

Raine & Horne Dee Why also enjoyed a great night with eight awards including sales agent Natalie Robson’s first place as the network’s Top Referring Salesperson for 2010. This award recognises the leads that Ms Robson generated for Raine & Horne Financial Services.

Consistent Raine & Horne Dee Why co-principal Peter Mosedale placed in the top four in the Top Salesperson (Number of Sales) category and fifth place in the Top Salesperson (Proprietor) category.

Ms Robson and Mr Mosedale were also elevated into the Chairman’s Club, along with Raine & Horne Dee Why colleague Sam Mendicino, while the office ranked in the top six in the Top Office (Dollar Value) category.

Mr Gilmour said the awards to Mr Yeates and Mr Mosedale demonstrated the dynamic duo’s fondness for hard work.

“It is Lachlan and Peter’s attitude that sets them apart – and they never shy away from giving vendors and clients the right advice whether it’s good or bad. The level of communication they have with our vendors is critical to the success of our business.

“I am immensely proud of the achievements of Raine & Horne Dee Why and Raine & Horne Collaroy, and it is testament to our philosophy of providing a happy workplace with a good vibe, where people enjoy what they do,” he said.

Not to be outdone, Mr Gilmour, was also honoured with the Graham Skarratt Award, which is presented to outstanding individuals who have demonstrated the qualities of loyalty, professionalism and dedication in supporting the Raine & Horne network.

“I feel very humbled to have received this award, having known Graham and his reputation as someone who lifted the professionalism of the real estate industry, along with the likes of Raine & Horne Chairman Max Raine.”

Raine & Horne Chief Executive Officer, Angus Raine, commended Mr Gilmour and Raine & Horne Collaroy and Dee Why for their outstanding contribution and dedication to the property sector on the Northern Beaches.

“Winning these awards underlines Raine & Horne’s consistent ability to remain true to its core business of property sales and property management and for providing the very best services to vendors, buyers, landlords and tenants,” Mr Raine said.
