New husband and wife team for Raine & Horne Noosa/Hinterland

Michael and Kristin Robinson are the new owners of Raine & Horne Noosa/Hinterland.

The experienced real estate couple assumed ownership of Raine & Horne Noosa/Hinterland, located at 8 Reserve Street, Pomona, on 1 September 2010.

Long term local residents, Mr and Mrs Robinson were employed by Raine & Horne Noosa/Hinterland in 2007 and jumped at the offer from previous owners Adam Watts and Foti Koutsellis to take over the successful real estate office.

“We always wanted to be business owners and when Adam offered us the opportunity we grabbed it,” says Mr Robinson. “Adam will stay on with the business in sales.”

The Robinsons clearly have an allegiance to the Raine & Horne brand, but the purchase was based on sensible market intelligence rather than a choice of the heart.

“Many home buyers are sea and tree changers from Sydney and Melbourne where the Raine & Horne brand is very strong.

“In the hinterland, Raine & Horne is probably the best known real estate brand,” added Mr Robinson, who reported smaller blocks of two to five acres were proving popular with interstate buyers.

Two acre blocks start from $300,000, while five acre blocks with 10 to 15 year old houses, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, start at $500,000.

While small acreages are popular with owner occupiers, there is also a strong tenant market.

“These properties are also generating weekly rentals of around $400 a week which represents a gross rental yield of more than 4%.

Mr Robinson said that the Noosa Hinterland’s proximity to the coast, Maroochydore Airport (40 minutes) and Brisbane (1.5 hours) made the region popular with owner occupiers and tenants.

“It’s also one of the most affordable and greenest parts of the Sunshine Coast.

“For many tree changers, the Noosa Hinterland is attractive because it’s a community minded region and an escape from the high density living of the cities.”
