Raine & Horne and NAB combine to support champion surf club

The ties between Raine & Horne Terrigal – Avoca and NAB are even tighter following the decision by the leading real estate firm and the big Aussie bank to sponsor a new surfboat for the mighty Avoca Beach Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC).

On Saturday 3 March, 2012, the ‘Jim Harpur’ surf boat was dedicated and launched in front of an enthusiastic crowd of 400 locals, business identities, including Andrew Dunn and the team from NAB Erina, and SLSC members, at the picture perfect Avoca Beach, on the NSW Central Coast.

Named after the legendary Jim Harpur, a local sporting champion, community character and life member of Avoca Beach SLSC, the surf boat, built by leading manufacturer Clymer, represents the very latest in technology, design and materials.

“Jim Harpur represented the spirit of the Avoca community and of the local lifesaving movement, so we felt it only natural that the new surf boat is named in his honour,” said Garth Hunter, Director, Raine & Horne Terrigal – Avoca, who was recently named among Raine & Horne’s two best sales agents in NSW/ACT for dollar value, at the leading real estate firm’s recent state awards in Sydney. Mr Hunter was also elevated to the prestigious Raine & Horne Chairman’s Club for sales.

The Jim Harpur’s inaugural crew includes the much celebrated ‘Grease Monkeys’ quartet of Duke Brierty, sweep Richard Brierty, Rhaedan Curran, Charlie Glanville and John Patterson.

“Already the team has enjoyed a very successful 2011/12 season and heads into the state and national championships as a favoured competitor,” says Mr Hunter, whose family have been supporting the Surf Life Saving movement on the Central Coast for more than a century.

Mr Richard Brierty added, “The boat is solid, has no flex, is fast, rigid and very buoyant. The boys are really looking forward to seeing what it can do over the coming weeks.”

Raine & Horne Terrigal – Avoca, Director, Brett Hunter, who was instrumental in organising the Raine & Horne/NAB sponsorship said, “It is a wonderful to be able to help the Avoca SLSC and local community in this way.

“We enjoy the association we have with the club and boat rowers, and wish them much success at the upcoming Aussie titles.”

Raine & Horne Terrigal – Avoca now sponsors four surf boats for the Avoca SLSC, which are all named after ‘boatie’ legends and surf club life members:

  • Ross Ibbett
  • Dennis Gee (a member of the Raine & Horne Terrigal-Avoca team)
  • Phil Gee
  • Jim Harpur

In other news, apart from Mr Hunter’s awards, Raine & Horne Terrigal-Avoca featured strongly in a number of categories at the 2012 NSW/ACT Raine & Horne Annual Awards.

The leading Central Coast real estate firm grabbed second place in the hotly contested Top Coastal Office category and was among the top ten leading offices for sales calculated on dollar values.

Also synonymous with best practice property management, seven members of the Raine & Horne Terrigal-Avoca team, including Rosanna Webb, Amanda Coombe, Hayley Morris, Jodie Elson, Yvette Harris and Michael Nichols, were named among the celebrated Raine & Horne Chairman’s Club for property management.
