Raine & Horne City Living awarded for excellence

Leading Pyrmont-based property firm Raine & Horne City Living won several awards at the 2009 Raine & Horne NSW/ACT Chairman’s Awards, held at the Four Seasons Hotel, Sydney on Saturday 27 February 2010.

Leading the charge for Raine & Horne City Living was Carol Fung who scored an award as an Outstanding Property Manager for 2009. She was also elevated to Raine & Horne’s Property Managers Chairman’s Club.

Proprietors Gerard Payne and Stephen Whyte were also inducted into the Chairman’s Club for their long term service to the Raine & Horne brand, and their records selling property in the Pyrmont market.

Ms Fung said that majority of buyers in the Pyrmont area were owner-occupiers but that Raine & Horne City Living had a sizeable rent roll which was helping landlords achieve generous yields.

“It’s still a very good investment market as there is a shortage of quality rental apartments,” Ms Fung said.

“Currently we have only one fully furnished apartment available for rent. They come in and are snapped up immediately," she said.

The shortage of quality rental homes also guaranteed decent rental returns for landlords. Ms Fung said two bedroom apartments without views in Pyrmont Point sold for about $750,000 and rent for $800 a week.

"Renters and owner-occupiers are attracted to Pyrmont Point because unlike other parts of the city, they don’t have to share the precinct with commercial properties.

“It’s a quiet residential suburb close to the city and has good transport.”

As for her own award, Ms Fung said Raine & Horne City Living had excellent systems in place to help her manage the relatively large rent roll.

“But it’s more than systems. We treat tenants exactly the same way as we treat our landlords - with respect.

“When a tenant moves in, we give them a hamper and when repairs are required we always follow up within 24 hours.

As for the market outlook, Ms Fung said that like many parts of Sydney, Pyrmont Point was experiencing a shortage of quality homes. There was also strong demand once a property hit the market, she said.

Raine & Horne CEO Angus Raine commended Raine & Horne City Living for its outstanding contribution and dedication to the property sector in the inner west.

“Winning these awards underlines Raine & Horne City Living's consistent ability to remain true to its core business, which is achieving property sales and providing the best property services to vendors and buyers," Mr Raine said.

Raine & Horne is an iconic Australian property firm, with more than 370 offices worldwide. It is a recognised, official Superbrand along with the likes of Qantas, Vegemite, Woolworths and Myer.
