Raine & Horne Darwin - flying high at the 2010 Awards

The Raine & Horne Darwin Awards proved a high-flying success at the stunning Aviation Heritage Museum on Saturday 17 July.

A dramatic historical exhibit, which included a B52 Bomber display, a replica Spitfire, a Mirage Fighter and an ex RAAF Sabre, proved the perfect backdrop to celebrate the achievements of some the Top End’s real estate elite.

The awards were presented by Raine & Horne CEO Angus Raine, a frequent visitor to Darwin, and included a win by sales and marketing specialist Mark McClelland in the Settled Sales by Value Category.

General manager Raine & Horne Darwin, Glenn Grantham, described the award as significant and said he was thrilled that Mark had won.

“This is such a significant award and I couldn’t be more pleased that Mark has won,” he said.

“Even though sales prices in Darwin have steadied, Mark has still been able to secure the number one spot.”

Glenn credits Mark’s win to his forward thinking and use of innovative marketing tools.

“Mark has definitely made a significant contribution to project marketing, specifically in selling off the plan properties,” he said.

This is the second Chairman’s Award for Mark, having also won No. 2 National Sales Person in 2008.

Property Manager of the Year was won by Roz Rutherford, also from Raine & Horne Darwin, who was up against 14 other property managers vying for the title.

“Roz excelled in the areas of ‘arrears management’ and ‘low complaints’ which ultimately won her the title. Roz is undoubtedly an asset to the team," Glenn said.

Support Person of the Year was won by Billie Mackie, Business Systems Operator at Raine & Horne Darwin.

“Billie has successfully transitioned herself into desktop publishing, the use of RH Compass, Raine & Horne’s ground breaking business management system and at the same time she supports ten sales reps.”

“Billie is a vital cog in the team at Raine & Horne Darwin,” said Glenn.

As for Northern Territory real estate, owner/occupiers speak for roughly 80% of sales, while investors represent the remainder of the market.

“The top end of the market has levelled out in recent times, whereas the bottom and middle rungs are strong, with decent returns for investors,” he added.

Smaller strata title apartments in the northern suburbs are selling in the low $300,000 range and generating rental returns in excess of $350 per week, while the median price for a three bedroom house is $547,000 with rental returns of approximately $490.00.”

Raine & Horne Chief Executive Officer, Angus Raine, commended Raine & Horne Darwin for its outstanding contribution and dedication to the property sector in the Northern Territory.

“Winning these awards underlines Raine & Horne Darwin’s consistent ability to remain true to its core business of property sales and property management, and for providing the very best property services to vendors, buyers, landlords and tenants.”
