Raine & Horne merges its South Australian operation

Leading real estate group, Raine & Horne has acquired its South Australian network from long-term owners, Chris and Sue Weston

Media release - 22 December 2016

Adelaide, South Australia. The merger of the South Australian operation follows the acquisition of the Raine & Horne master franchises in Western Australia in 2008 and Queensland in 2009.

Raine & Horne opened its first office in South Australia in 1988. “The original office, located in Adelaide, concentrated its attentions on commercial sales, leasing and management,” said Angus Raine, Executive Chairman, Raine & Horne.

In 1995, the Superbrand decided to pursue a far greater presence and market share in South Australia. “As part of our strategic plans, we convinced Chris and Sue Weston, who had built a strong network of offices in South Australia, to switch to Raine & Horne,” Mr Raine said. “As part of this agreement, we granted Chris and Sue the master franchise for Raine & Horne in South Australia in August 1996.”

Twenty years on and Mr Raine, and Brian Reid, CEO Raine & Horne, have held many meaningful conversations with Mr and Mrs Weston about the future of the brand in South Australia and the couple’s personal long-term plans.
“As a result of our mutual discussions, Chris and Sue have decided to focus their attentions on their Raine & Horne offices at Oakbank, Birdwood, Gawler, Two Wells, Blackwood and Raine & Horne Darwin, which they personally own and operate,” said Mr Raine.

Mr Weston, who in 2016, was recognised by the Real Estate Institute of South Australia as one it’s best salespeople , is excited by Raine & Horne’s future in the state.
“In 2017, there will be a significant injection of capital into the Raine & Horne network. We are also opening a new and significantly enhanced South Australian corporate office, which will include a sales team servicing Central Eastern Adelaide,” said Mr Weston.“The strategy of adding a sales presence to a state corporate office was used with stunning success by Angus Raine when Raine & Horne acquired the Queensland operation in 2009.

“We will continue to work with Angus and Brian Reid, together with South Australian General Manager, Michael McDonald, and his team, to grow the reach of the Raine & Horne brand in this state,” said Mr Weston.

The Weston family’s association with Raine & Horne is set to continue for many years to come, according to Mrs Weston.
“We are proud of our 20-year association with the Raine family, firstly with former Chairman Max Raine and more recently Angus,” she said.

“With our son Tom Weston leading Raine & Horne Mount Barker, and our daughter Georgia at Raine & Horne Oakbank, we look forward to continuing our long-association with Raine & Horne.”
