Raine & Horne opens new office in Belmont as downsizer sales market picks up

Media release - 9th October, 2014

  • Raine & Horne Belmont has opened under long-time Newcastle agent Brett Mitten, who has switched from a rival  brand to join Raine & Horne
  • Mr Mitten has employed a number of young gun sales agents and believes the Belmont sales market is set for a surge

In a major coup for Raine & Horne, leading Newcastle real estate agent, Brett Mitten, has switched allegiances to the Superbrand.

Raine & Horne BelmontMr Mitten, who has been aligned to a rival network for the past twenty years, relaunched his successful business as Raine & Horne Belmont in late September. The business will continue to operate from its highly visible premises at Shop 1, Jewellstown Plaza, Ntaba Road, Belmont North.

Angus Raine, Chairman and CEO of Raine & Horne, is delighted that Mr Mitten has decided to join the charcoal and gold of Raine & Horne.

“Raine & Horne has enjoyed a long and successful association with the Hunter region and we currently have offices in the Newcastle CBD, Swansea, Toronto, Blacksmiths, Stockton, Cessnock, Muswellbrook, Lemon Tree Passage and Nelson Bay,” said Mr Raine.

“It’s fantastic that we now have an office servicing the eastern side of Lake Macquarie, and I’m really looking forward to working with Brett, who has built a really good business specialising in property subdivisions, and helping him establish Raine & Horne Belmont as a real estate market leader.”

Mr Mitten said his immediate plan is to develop the sales and property management businesses at Raine & Horne Belmont.

“The Raine & Horne brand will deliver me the best chance to grow our residential sales and property management businesses,” said Mr Mitten, whose professional associations with members of the Raine & Horne executive team helped seal his transition to the 131-year old family owned and operated firm.

“I know COO Brian Reid and business support and development manager Greg Oddy very well, and I feel that the family values of Raine & Horne match my own.”

The timing of the assault on the Belmont real estate market is also opportune, with the market set for a surge, according to Mr Mitten.

“Downsizers are selling up larger homes worth between $550,000 and $750,000 in Belmont and surrounding suburbs and are moving to the likes of Cameron Park, where $450,000 will buy them a near-new three bedroom home, on a flat, 500 to 550 sqm block.

“This strategy enables them to stick the balance in the bank for their retirements.”

On the demand side, improved infrastructure is delivering more buyers to Belmont.

“The Hunter Expressway has slashed commute times, enabling more families to buy properties in Belmont to enjoy the Lake or the beach, rather than being stuck up the Valley closer to the mines,” said Mr Mitten.
