Raine & Horne Rural adopts digital technology to discreetly sell massive rural acreages

Media release - 14th May, 2015

There’s a saying used by many long-standing rural real estate agents, that “you can’t sell a secret”, according to Andrew Tout, Co-Principal of Raine & Horne Rural Sydney.

“The reality is, if an enthusiastic agent fails to keep a secret or they leak a potential sale before time, this can be very damaging to the sale process of a major rural property asset,” said Mr Tout.

As a consequence, Raine & Horne Rural, which recently opened offices in Sydney and Brisbane, has devised a new online process which can discreetly match significant rural assets anywhere in Australia with the right buyers.

“Buyers are able to unobtrusively log into our Data Room facility with a username and password and access confidentiality agreements and disclaimers, information memorandums, property valuations, letters of financial capability, professional reports on the property and other third party data,” said Mr Tout.

“It’s a comprehensive facility and is accessible via a desktop, tablet or smartphone, which we believe is unique to the rural property sector.

“Our online Data Room, which provides quality information, coupled with the right industry connections and discretion, is the key to a successful marketing program.”

The success of the Data Room means that the days of mass market advertising for prized rural assets will soon be consigned to the dustbin of history, according to Mr Tout.

“Raine & Horne Rural Sydney, through its parent, Rain Agribusiness, is talking to people in the market every day, and our method of selling uses our connections and unique data room selling process to get the best result for both buyers and sellers, without the need to broadcast the opportunity to the general public.”

Currently, some of the properties listed for sale or co-investment by Raine & Horne Rural through its secure Data Room and public sale include:

75,000 acre Western NSW grazing, feedlot & grain property
168,970 acre Queensland tablelands beef property
4,596 acre NSW/QLD Border Rivers grain, beef & irrigated cotton property

“The rural real estate scene is changing, and we are shifting the goal posts, utilising the most up-to-date technology and marketing methods to best present an asset for the benefit of both the buyer and the seller,” said Angus Raine, Executive Chairman, Raine & Horne.

“For many of our rural vendors, confidentiality is paramount when selling their high dollar value properties, and using the latest technologies enables us to totally respect their wishes.

“If you want to buy or sell a high value rural property in Australia and don’t want the world to know it, our team at Raine & Horne Rural will be delighted to help you,” added Mr Raine.
