Regionals muscle up to city-slickers at major real estate awards

Media release - 21st August, 2013

Glittering event attracts Raine & Horne's finest

  • Raine & Horne Charters Towers and Raine & Horne Darwin pushed Raine & Horne Double Bay for major sales gongs at the network’s 2012/13 national awards, held on the Gold Coast on Tuesday 20th August, 2013
  • Raine & Horne Commercial Brisbane North was the big winner in the commercial categories, although Steven Dick, Principal of Raine & Horne Newcastle, was named the network’s top commercial sales person for number of sales
  • Deborah Tucker, Principal of Raine & Horne McLaren Vale in South Australia, won the 2013 Max Raine award for service to the network

In its 130th year of operation, Raine & Horne emphasised the reach of its network, with offices from NSW, Queensland, South Australia, Northern Territory and the ACT sharing the spoils at the group’s 2012/13 National Awards held on the Gold Coast.

Angus Raine (centre) with the winning team from Raine & Horne Double BayThe awards attracted hundreds of representatives from Raine & Horne’s national and international network of offices, with Raine & Horne Double Bay, from Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, grabbing the gold medal categories – Top Office (Dollar Value) and Top Office (Number of Sales).

Underlining the strength of Raine & Horne in regional Australia, Raine & Horne Charters Towers proved a major surprise packet, running a close second to Raine & Horne Double Bay in the hotly-contested Top Office (Number of Sales) category.

Also demonstrating the mushrooming strength of property markets in Northern Australia, Raine & Horne Darwin finished just behind Raine & Horne Double Bay in the Top Office (Dollar Value) category.

Raine & Horne Double Bay also grabbed first in the Top Salesperson (Number of Sales) category, with Principal Ric Serrao pipping Lisa Palmer from Raine & Horne Charters Towers for the top gong.

“While our big capital city operations continue to dominate their markets, our regional offices are starting to make a mark, which is demonstrated with the likes of Raine & Horne Bathurst and Raine & Horne Charters Towers figuring prominently in a number of categories at this year’s awards,” says Angus Raine, CEO of Raine & Horne.

“Indeed, in Charters Towers, population and jobs growth are attracting more buyers and investors to the town, and as a consequence, Lisa and her team at Raine & Horne Charters Towers enjoyed a very successful 2012/13 financial year.

“What’s more, it’s also pleasing to see Raine & Horne Ayr, expertly led by Principal Jack Slaney, take out our Top Rural Office (Dollar Value) category,” says Mr Raine.

In other examples of the strength of Raine & Horne’s regional network, Grant Maskill-Dowton from Raine & Horne Bathurst won gold in the Top Salesperson (Dollar Value) category, while the Central Coast’s Andrew Sorensen, Principal of Raine & Horne Charmhaven, was named Top Salesperson for Auction Listings.

Regional offices also scored strongly in the commercial categories, with Steven Dick, Principal of Raine & Horne Commercial Newcastle, winning the Top Commercial Salesperson (Number of Sales) category.

Overall, the commercial categories were dominated by Queensland offices, with Raine & Horne Commercial Brisbane North named the Top Commercial Office based on dollar value, while its principal, Trent Bruce, was named Top Commercial Salesperson (Dollar Value).

Raine & Horne Commercial Brisbane North’s Hudson Dale grabbed first in the Top Commercial Salesperson (Number of Leasing Transactions), while colleague Lawrence Temple was the Top Commercial Salesperson (Auction Listings).

Steve Burke from Raine & Horne Commercial Canberra was named Top Commercial Salesperson for leasing values for 2012/13.

In a fitting finale to the evening, Deborah Tucker, Principal of Raine & Horne McLaren Vale was named the Max Raine Award winner for 2013.

“Deborah has established a reputation as an honest, sincere professional in her beloved McLaren Vale region, and indeed throughout the state of South Australia,” says Mr Raine.

“Her boundless energy, compassion and sincerity have Deborah constantly ranked as one of the top selling principals in South Australia and it is this unwavering commitment and decency that has won the respect of her staff, peers and the real estate/business community.

“She is a truly worthy recipient of the prestigious Max Raine Award.”
