The power of two is great news for Dapto home-owners and investors

Media release - 10th October, 2013

Father and son team to light up Dapto real estate

  • Raine & Horne Dapto will be led by long-term local agent and businessman Brian Dorling, while Jason Dorling will direct operations at Raine & Horne Dapto Sales
  • The Superbrand’s new look and advertising campaign proved a major factor in the Dorlings’ decision to link with Raine & Horne
  • A shortage of listings in the 2530 postcode coupled with housing affordability has the Dapto real estate market set for a buoyant Spring

Well-respected Dapto real estate specialists Brian and Jason Dorling have switched allegiances to leading real estate group Raine & Horne, a move that is set to shake up the competitive local property market.

“While we are joining Raine & Horne, I’d like to stress to our clients, landlords and tenants that it’s business as usual,” said Brian Dorling, who has been the principal of the business since 1999.

Brian Dorling“It is the same business that has been in place since 1984 and it will be a seamless transition to Raine & Horne, a brand which was established in 1883.”

To this end, property management specialist Raine & Horne Dapto and the newly-minted sales operation, Raine & Horne Dapto Sales, will both operate from the firm’s longstanding commercial base at 64 Princes Highway, Dapto.

Currently, Raine & Horne Dapto has a very healthy property management business with over 500 homes under management between Austinmer in the north and Kiama in the south.

“The attraction of a rental home in Dapto is that we have very low vacancy rates and generous yields for many homes,” said Brian Dorling, who will lead Raine & Horne Dapto.

Meanwhile, Brian’s son Jason Dorling will lead Raine & Horne Dapto Sales, and the sales ace is expecting a strong finish to the traditional Spring market.Jason Dorling

“Dapto is one of the Illawarra’s highest growth areas because of the amount of land being released for housing, along with the local area’s excellent affordability,” said Jason Dorling.

“It’s possible to pay about $200,000 for a standard block of land in the 2530 postcode, while entry-level three bedroom homes are available for less than $300,000.

“We have a lot of new land releases and new homes being built, with first time buyers taking advantage of the $15,000 government grants when buying or building new homes.”

In addition to demand for entry level properties, million dollar acreages are popular with second and third time buyers, many of whom are locals, according to Jason Dorling.

“We have a constant stream of investor enquiry which, combined with the upgrader market, means we can look forward to robust Spring market results,” he said.

“However, we still have a shortage of quality stock to meet buyer demand, so if you’re thinking of listing your home for sale this Spring, it might be a good time to contact our sales team.”

On the decision to switch to Raine & Horne, Brian Dorling named the leading real estate firm’s recent brand revolution as a major attraction.

“The revitalisation of the brand really caught my eye, while I like the fact that Raine & Horne has enjoyed 130 years of continuous family ownership,” said Mr Dorling.

“There’s a sense that Raine & Horne is strategically combining a commitment to innovation with traditional business values.

“The ‘can do’ attitude of the corporate team also impressed, while Raine & Horne’s personal service and training programs have also proven to be very worthwhile.”

Responding to the opening of Raine & Horne Dapto and Raine & Horne Dapto Sales, Angus Raine, CEO of Raine & Horne, said Brian and Jason Dorling have been major players in the local real estate market and are well-known among the local community.

“All the staff at Raine & Horne Dapto and Raine & Horne Dapto Sales live locally and have worked in the Dapto region for many years,” said Mr Raine.

“They all went to the local schools and are involved in many sporting and community organisations in the Dapto area.

“Brian and Jason are known for their professionalism and attention to detail, whether it’s a property sale or management, and I’m excited about the new offices joining our very strong network on the NSW South Coast.”
