Unique south coast retirement lifestyle opportunity set to sell fast

Media release - 11 May 2012

Raine & Horne Kiama to market unique retirement development

Sydney developer Weriton Properties has appointed leading south coast real estate firm, Raine & Horne Kiama, to market its unique retirement development, ‘Seaview Estate’, and already buyer interest is robust.

“This is the first land release designed for the retiree market in Kiama’s history, with blocks starting from as little as $249,000 and ranging in size from 433m² to 877m²,” says Steve Pryor, Principal of Raine & Horne Kiama.

“Seaview, which is just five minutes from Kiama, is suitable for residents over 55 who are approaching semi or full retirement and who are looking to downsize to a smaller house as opposed to a unit, townhouse or conventional retirement village.

“As the NSW Department of Planning seldom approves developments of this nature, it is also extremely rare to have blocks of land available exclusively to residents over 55 years of age,” says Mr Pryor.

“That’s not to say that a lot can’t be purchased by buyers aged under 55, however each lot must house at least one person aged 55 or over.”

Each of the 30 lots is approved with a single level home, according to Mr Pryor, although buyers can choose their own builder to develop their block.

Both Weriton Properties and Raine & Horne Kiama agree that Seaview represents an excellent opportunity for local and Sydney-based buyers to secure a unique and independent retirement lifestyle on the scenic NSW south coast.

“Traditionally, Kiama does have an older population and residents of Seaview can live alongside their peers in peace and tranquillity, but unlike a typical retirement village, they can still retain full control over their lives,” explains Mr Pryor.

In addition, Seaview Estate borders semi-rural pasture land, while offering sweeping northerly views of the Illawarra coastline, Pacific Ocean and the township of Kiama.

The marketing phase for the development commenced on 7th May 2012, and the purchase price is not payable in full until completion of the development, which is scheduled for early 2013.
