Young gun agent’s leadership role represents generational change at Raine & Horne

Media release - 26th September, 2014

As part of its long-term succession planning, leading real estate office, Raine & Horne Bathurst, has appointed award-winning agent Grant Maskill-Dowton as a director.

Mr Clifton and Mr Fagan have owned and operated Raine & Horne Bathurst since 1991, which now is a multi-million dollar sales and property management business, employing 25 real estate specialists.

“Grant’s appointment underpins a growing trend among many of the longest-established Raine & Horne offices to put in place succession planning strategies,” said Angus Raine, Chairman and CEO of Raine & Horne.

“As a consequence, offices such as Raine & Horne Bathurst, now have second-generation principals in place like Grant Maskill-Dowton and fellow director Michelle Mackay.

“This is very satisfying for me as some of these offices have been with us for over three decades, and this underpins the long-term sustainability of our 131-year old brand.”

Mr Maskill-Dowton, who is rated one of Raine & Horne’s top five agents nationally, will take a leadership role in driving the leading Bathurst real estate firm’s sales business, according to Mr Clifton.

“Grant, who joined our firm in 2011, is one of the outstanding real estate consultants in our profession and the Raine & Horne network nationally, and it was a natural progression for him to become a part-owner in our business,” he said.

Prior to joining Raine & Horne, Mr Maskill-Dowton, whose family have lived in the Bathurst region for five generations, worked for an independent agency in Bathurst after a stint with another major real estate network.

“When we started to court Grant four years ago, he made it clear that he would be looking to take a leadership role at Raine & Horne Bathurst on the proviso that he met specific sales milestones.”

Mr Maskill-Dowton met these targets in spades, according to John Fagan, and in the process has won many national industry awards, including his 5th placing in the Top Salesperson (Number of Sales) and 7th in the Top Salesperson (Dollar Value) category, at the recent Raine & Horne National Awards held in Sydney.

“This is a marvellous result as Raine & Horne has many hundreds of agents operating in some of the hottest real estate markets in Sydney and Melbourne, which have enjoyed tremendous activity and capital growth over the past 18 months,” said Mr Fagan.

According to Mr Fagan, Mr Maskill-Dowton’s appointment represents a significant milestone in cementing the future of Raine & Horne in Bathurst.

“We believe that Grant will add significant value to our business and its ongoing success,” said Mr Fagan.
